This was sweet and adorable and quietly wonderful. A lovely story of friendship and the value of passing down traditions and remembering where you come from. Such inclusive representation of humanity as well; I already really liked the story, but fell in love the second I turned the page and saw Erik, who co-runs the teahouse and uses a wheelchair for mobility. There are characters of color, characters that are not neurotypical, characters who love who they love. Even though the people and animals are drawn in an almost mythical way (characters that appear as humans often have horns or antlers or tails, and not all characters appear in human form), it's just beautiful to see a simple and lovely example of people who are not all the same, and who are all still loved and valued.

I also thought it was clever to include a kind of “Care and Feeding of Tea Dragons” thing in the epilogue. The tea dragons were so cute! Absolutely delightful.
