i feel like a traitor for saying this,, but i liked the lost hero better,
like hazel, frank, and percy are amazing and i love their dynamic
but this literally almost put me in a slump for the second time
so i have to give it a 4/5
still an amazing storyline
excited to read the rest and finally finish this series !
Frank is the cutest and coolest person in all of the books, daaamn!
Also, Ella and Tyson?? Amazing!
Percy is – as always – the saving grace of literally anything happening. Hazel and Frank were kind of fun but mostly mediocre ngl. Percy won (as always - again) though
Not quite as good as I was expecting, after the first book of the heroes of Olympus series not having Percy, and then this one just being about him regaining his memory back, seems a little repetitive. Just a reason to have another book. But, despite that, this is still great. But I'm really excited for the plot to get going in Mark of Athena.
girllll the way this book is soooo much better than the first. i actually enjoy the new characters and percy is there. my annotations were a lot more kind this book and i literally am opening up the next book as i write this.
While it's hard to have gotten invested in the new characters in the first book and to then switch back to a different set, I loved the storyline of this book.
Age range: 10+
Younger readers may find it a little scary.
Finally finished this book! I had a baby last year and my recreational reading went out the window. I'm now determined to finish all books I started and abandoned last spring.
Favorite bit: Amazon.com is run by Amazons.
Still love this series with every fiber of my heart. Can't wait to reread the rest of them ;-;
Still loving this series! What's even better than bringing Greek and Roman mythology together? Bringing it together and having a quest to Alaska! I love when books mention my state and places I've been.
The writing just flows so well with these books that before you know it, you're done. I adore the romances and friendships being made and I absolutely LOVE the corny humor. I laugh so much when reading these.
didn't like it as much as the first book but its still so addicting !
it felt repetitive at times because all they do is fight giants but it was still fun
This series shouldn't be called ‘The Heroes of Olympus.' It should be called ‘I have a Secret - or Amnesia.'
In seriousness, though, pretty sure this is my favorite Riordan book to date. The first 150 pages or so are solidly five stars for me, but I always love the non-quest parts of the books - and getting to read about Camp Jupiter was so much fun. (Now this is a place that actually makes sense. And doesn't sound half-bad to live in.) But when the quest starts is always when my attention drops a little. This time though, it seems both more cohesive AND more relevant to the quest-ers.
Also, I was a little...less than excited to be back in Percy's head after not adoring him in PJ & the Olympians - but one of three things happened: either Riordan's writing has matured, Percy himself has matured or being told in third person was a much better choice. Possibly all three. Finally, love the final battle. That was fun. I'm just...disappointed where the book ends because not only did I want to read the meeting, but I also have a feeling that means the meeting will be from Annabeth's perspective. ... Whom I've never liked. (Hopefully getting into her head will help that - if not, this next book will be painful, I'd imagine.)
Anyway, very happy with this book. (Even if it was supposed to take me two more days to finish, because I had everything planned out and how good this book is ruined that for me.)
