After reading/listening and loving Taylor's Bobiverse I was very excited about his next work. It started well, as the story has an exciting premise. But then it turned sour. The Singularity Trap just seems too linear, predictable and one dimensional, especially when compared to Bobiverse books. The whole story is revolving around one “person” and everyone is paying so much attention to “him” when the world is about to go to hell just doesn't seem plausible. I also did not enjoy the classic American portrayal of “Russians” as arrogant and aggressive, it just doesn't add anything to the story.
