Look, I remember loving the action, the discussions, the characters, the setting – just I was so lost in the first book that I was willing to overlook mediocre things. This book though... I can feel the lovely writing style pulling me in and some of the story aspects, but wow I kinda hate the characters and I have absolutely no patience for the disconnect of these people. It didn't make sense in the first book, it makes less sense here and Ava's attitude and my annoyance with literally everyone makes it worse.

It doesn't help that miscommunication or the lack of communication method is driving some of this book. I did read some reviews for spoilers to see when they'd get back together and seeing it would take until 77%?!?! PLUS Ava is going to get mad at Malachi for checks notes dying when he protected her??? Nah, I'll skip.

Maybe if I had jumped into this immediately after the first book I would have had more patience, but oh well. I do plan on reading more by this author, promise!!
