The Secret Life of Bees

A friend let me borrow this book and suggested that I read straight away. I let it sit for a couple of days which was a good thing because once I picked it up I did not want to put it down. Part of the reason I did not put it down was because I thought it was going to have a Color Purple moment. I read with trepidation thinking any moment know something truly horrible was going to happen. Horrible things happen, not in a Color Purple kind of way. After finishing the book and realizing how truly poetic and beauitiful it was I had to read it again this time enjoying the ride.
