At first I did not think I would like this book. There is next to no punctuation, no chapters, stream of conscious writing and a confusing mix of memories, dreams and present story telling that took me a while to understand. With that being said, you need to look between the lines as to why McCarthy wrote this book so strangely. Once you do this you will realize how much of a genius he really was and will appreciate his writing style. The subject matter was hard to swallow and often times I had to put the book down due to another encounter with cannibals, but this is a truly powerful novel.
