The best adjective I can think of to describe this book is “sincere.” Neither of the MCs have any pretense or deceit; they are who they are, and the only question is if they belong together or not. I had a hard time not giggling about the tantric sex parts (I'll never forget the rumors that the musician Sting boasted he could have tantric sex for days with his wife) but again, Easton, through River's POV, displays such genuine interest and belief in the practice that I tried my best to take it seriously.
The plot about Brent opening a new kombucha cafe with River's help is interesting especially if you're a millennial foodie, and I liked the way it was no big deal that Brent's next true love after the death of his wife was a dude.
Sincerely enjoyable.
