The Quiet Tenant

I really enjoyed this book! Normally I don't vibe with books that change POV - it's not always done well or in a way that flows - but this was a fresh change of pace.

Additionally, Emily's character kept me guessing and I wasn't 100% sure she'd end up on the right side of history.

I'm excited to see what else this author will bring to the table and definitely recommend giving it a go.

This was already a tough one to get through due to the subject matter, but I was hoping for some balance in the form of interesting/compelling characters and a triumphant, satisfying ending unfortunately that was not the case here. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to be held as a sex slave so I'm going to give the author a slight pass on the MC's POV, however the Emily character!! No ma'am, like why are you a grown ass woman acting like a highschooler obsessing over their first crush?! I was hoping she would be integral in saving the MC, she was not and was overall a disappointing and useless character. This book's conclusion was not worth the journey of this woman's long-suffering experience. I know that all stories aren't destined for a happy ending but damn this is fiction, and this story could have used some light through all the bleakness.

Audio notes: The voice performances for these characters were very good. Special s/o to the voice performer for Cecelia's character.

Honestly it was super well written and I mostly (kinda) enjoyed the story but it was just triggering so in reality I did not enjoy it

This was written in such a clever and unique way that I've never read before, and it was SO GOOD. It was so gripping and, even though it was a little slow, it still had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Absolutely bone chilling.

I've never been so annoyed at anyone the way I was about Emily. I mean, that girl needed a therapist.

Loved the style and hearing about 3 different women in Aiden's life. This reminded me a lot of Room. The only thing was that there was a lot of buildup and the big ending scene felt a little lackluster and rushed.

I really liked the writing, short chapters, and different perspectives.

I wanted more in the ending. It was building and building and then I never my climax. The ending was lack luster.

This book was a wild ride! Following the three females closest to Adien Thomas, a serial killer. His daughter, his lover, and his victim.
This was a fight for survival that definitely had me anxious at times! The writing was beautiful, almost in the way you see more in fantasy than in thrillers. Rachel's tips for surviving “outside the shed” being tucked away into my memory. This book had me anxious, and also feeling gaslit and manipulated.

This was definitely slower paced for my liking but the short chapters kept me reaching for more. There are somethings the women in this book did that made me roll my eyes a bit. Rachel I gave more grace to than Emily.

The ending tied up nicely and I throughly enjoyed! Can't believe this is this authors debut!

scary and interesting, it brings a bit about ‘Room' and a bit about Jeffrey Dahmer's life... fascinating and repelling all at once.

A great thriller debut by Clémence Michallon that would be right up the alley for fellow fans of “airport novel thrillers” such as Gone Girl and The Girl on a Train. A small sleepy town crime thriller with elements of psychological drama, Focusing the multi-narrative structure on the victims was an interesting touch, but one you need to settle into when you first begin reading. Giving the women a voice and female gaze against the male antagonist certainly brings different layers to the unraveling tension and plot, but I do feel like the story runs out of steam halfway through. The Quiet Tenant plays out similarly to a season of You, but if it were with a female lead (and not a likable psycho like Love lol). Definitely a solid recommendation for fans of the genre and any of the titles I mentioned within my blurb.

Wow.

I think that's the appropriate response to a book like this. I can't wrap my hand around the fact that this is a debut when it feels like it was written by an author who has been writing books like this for years.

The Quiet Tenant was gripping, heart-racing and so much fun. I was on edge the entire time I was reading this, constantly wondering what was going to come next. It was almost as if I could feel the anxiety and emotions of the characters.

The change of point of view from different characters in each chapter was the highlight for me because I loved reading from their perspectives and seeing how each moment was viewed differently by them all. Each character was so unique but they each were connected by the same man.

This is what you expect to read when you pick up a psychological thriller and I am so happy I was able to receive an ARC for this.

I'm excited to read what comes next from this author.
