I shouldn't have read first chapter of Buttercup's Baby, the introduction was hilarious but I was done with the narrator's paragraph long interjections by that point.

It was cute and funny! Very much in the spirit of the movie. It totally doesn't pass the Bechtel test. Buttercup is agonizingly passive, and does nothing (pretty much) except be in love, after all the narrator “cuts out” most of the scenes where she might do things like royalty school and all the social obligations.

It's been years since I saw the movie so I can't say for sure - but I don't think there is anything in it that would exasperate a lover of the book and vice versa. Pleasingly silly.
