What a lovely start to the story, great character building and progression elements.
I also love the Narrator!
Honestly I found this book boring, apparently I slept through the entire challenge dungeon bit and didn't notice or feel lost in the plot at all. There doesn't' seem to be any redeeming characters in here at all. I made it basically 13.5 hours in and if my interest hasn't been caught at this point it's just not going to happen, maybe it's pace or plot appeals to some others but no more for me thanks.
Not sure what it is about this genre that makes me feel “meh” in the first half and by the end be looking forward to see what happens in the next one.
I do wish that the stat blocks weren't so long and repetitive. I've been listening this whole time, I know what skills you have! It's especially painful when listening to the audiobook, which is otherwise great.
The main villain in this one starts off as a pretty cliched archetype, but it seems like this might be improving, fingers crossed.
