This is a pretty violent (and sexy) book considering that it was written in the early ‘30s.

A wife tired of her loveless marriage and dead-end job meets a good-looking bad boy. Bad boy Frank is hired by Cora's husband, Nick to work in their garage located right next door to their diner in which Cora works. Frank pops in for some lunch, sees Cora, and is instantly attracted to her. The feelings are mutual, so they plot to kill Nick.

Nick is so dense that he doesn't even notice the attraction between Cora and Frank, so why kill the poor guy? And he seemed like a nice enough guy that Cora could have come clean and asked for a divorce. But I guess if she had taken that route, there wouldn't be a juicy story to be told! The book had a Double Indemnity feel to it and both Cora and Frank get their just desserts in the end.

I never knew what this book was about until I finally picked up a copy and read it. And I have never seen the movie. The storyline is definitely made for TV and I will be watching the movie adaptation very soon.
