2.5 StarsPerhaps my dark romance phase is over. This was quite a dark romance. I was tempted to put it down, but Leylah Attar has a smooth writing style that kind of sucked me in. I was left helpless, even though I was annoyed with the 2 main characters the whole time. I do not suggest this book for people who like their romances fluffy or light. This was a heavy story. SpoilerI had a hard time coping with why after being abducted, hair ripped out, head bashed in with a gun, and it gets worse, that Skye is fantasizing about her kidnapper raping her, and feels rejected when he doesn't. This reminded me a little of [b:Uncovering You: The Contract 20512700 Uncovering You The Contract (Uncovering You, #1) Scarlett Edwards https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1395915570s/20512700.jpg 35759196] a little bit in the way that it was a son in both stories getting revenge for his mother by going after the daughter of the man who wronged his Mama, and subsequently falling in love with her. The son in both cases turns out to redeem himself, but only after doing terrible things to the heroine. There were some differences, but basically same outline.
