Reading this book was like swimming in a sea of pain and grief. I'm not a swimmer, so the struggle was courageous. Even though the story wasn't too dark, the intensity of everything happening on page was palpable. It delves into some really heavy topics - rejection, unhealthy obsession, jealousy, stalking, selfishness. They are refracted through the author's point of view in a way that provokes the reader's thinking and all of their senses, leaving behind even more unanswered questions : “What does it mean ‘‘I love you but I can't share''? Would Hazel have helped all the other people at risk if she hadn't been rejected? Is her change genuine, or is it just a crutch to help her cope with her own hopeless situation? What would have happened if Soren and Hazel's positions were reversed? The plot is very well built and intriguing- two Omegas, who needed time for personal growth, one broken dysfunctional pack, ravaged by regret, fears, doubts and trust issues. And the cherry of the cake - a serial killer that threatens to tear in shreds the little what's left. For the first time I can say I liked a book with so many unlikeable characters - controversial, yes, but unforgetable. I cherish the fact that the author dared to build a story, using the uglier side of pack life, because sometimes all the money and influence in the world can't buy love, happiness and a Pack to call your own.
