The Skelfs are back. Hooray!
I've been a fan of the Skelfs since Dark Matter, the first book in the series. Three generations of strong, independent women, each battling their own demons. They've had a lot to deal with, but they always emerge stronger.
The Opposite of Lonely sees them arrange an eco-funeral (Dorothy), search for a missing person and body (Jenny), and help an astronaut who is being harassed (Hannah.) There's also a funeral crasher, and a band of itinerants who are being harassed. It makes for a riveting read.
I like some of the recurring themes in this book, particularly the idea of communal funerals. There are so many who pass with no one to mourn them. They deserve to be remembered, even by those who never knew them.
I'm giving this book 5 stars because, in my humble opinion, it's the best Skelf book to date.
If you haven't already read the previous Skelf books, you should do so immediately. You really are missing out.
