"A sharp thriller to devour in a single sitting." —Jessie Weaver, author of Live Your Best Lie Be careful who you fall for... Robbie and Trevor Cresmont have a body count—the killer kind. Handsome and privileged, the Crestmont brothers have enough wealth to ensure they’ll never be found guilty of any wrongdoing, even if all of Happy Valley believes they're behind the deaths of their ex-girlfriends. First there was soccer star Victoria Moreno, Robbie’s ex, who mysteriously drowned at the family lake house. Then, a year later, Trevor’s girlfriend died of a suspicious overdose. But the Crestmonts aren’t the only ones with secrets. Lauren O'Brian might be the new girl at school, but she's never been a good girl. With a dark past of her own, she's desperate for a fresh start. Except when she starts a no-strings-attached relationship with Robbie, her chance is put in jeopardy. During what’s meant to be their last weekend together, Lauren stumbles across shocking evidence that just might implicate Robbie. With danger closing in, Lauren doesn't know who to trust. And after a third death rocks the town, she must decide whether to end things with Robbie or risk becoming another cautionary tale. This is an edge-of-your-seat debut YA thriller about a teen who is forced to confront her past in order to catch a murderer before she ends up the next victim. Perfect for fans of Karen McManus and Holly Jackson.

I just finished listening to The One That Got Away with Murder by Trish Lundy and Narrated by Helen Laser; Joshua Quinn and here are my thoughts.
Lauren is the new girl. A soccer star joining a team that only has space because the last girl died. She mysteriously drowned and the boy she is having a no strings-attached fling with...Was the dead girl's boyfriend and she died at his lake house. Not like Lauren is a good girl but she was hoping for a fresh start.
Vowing to break it off before school starts Lauren accepts an invite to go to the lake house with Robbie. While on the boat Lauren finds the bikini top that Victoria was wearing before she drowned but was never recovered and it has a blood stain on it.
Not knowing what to do, Lauren puts the top back but not knowing who to trust or where to turn is just as dangerous as the knowledge she now has..
Firstly, the narrators were brilliant. They kept the right tone to their voices and held the exact amount of intrigue I needed to get sucked in.
The character build up was phenomenal. I haven't enjoyed the good/bad threshold of a character in a book like this ever. You never know who's telling the truth and what is the actual truth and no one is reliable and I love that. Lauren really wanted to get a fresh start in her new life with her mom and her new boyfriend. Whatever happened to her is a big dark cloud over her and it makes for a really dark narration.
The idea that the two brothers both lost their girlfriends under mysterious circumstances is the crux of the story and you can see why they are being blamed for murder and how these things weren't their faults. You will find yourself leaning each way so many times and I had no clue until the reveal at the end what the truth was. I love books that keep me guessing.
The ending did seem a bit neat and a little rushed but I didn't feel like it missed anything.
Overall a solid thriller!!
