This book was too much like its predecessor. Linden and Bram are basically the same character. Nicola is Steph but with a kid. By these characters' actions, it's hard to imagine that they're in their 30s. The writing wasn't that great either. I try not to pay attention to typos but this book has quite a few, including continuity errors where in one scene it's mentioned that Nicola is wearing a skirt and then all of the sudden she's wearing jeans. I don't think I'll be continuing with this series.

This was...okay. I feel like I started out liking it more than when I finished it.
I liked the concept of the single mom down on her luck, something I don't read much of, and wanted to see how this would work. Plus, it took place in San Francisco, the city where I went to university. So, it was fun knowing the streets and neighborhoods, albeit there wasn't as much atmosphere talk as I thought there would be. The rising housing costs and how unbelievably expensive it is to live there totally hit the believable mark.
For anyone who doesn't know the last time I checked a studio apartment cost about $2k/month minimum and finding that was lucky. I think since then it has gone up to $3,ooo a month, but I'm not confident in that statement.
Let's talk characters. I think my problem is I don't like Bram. He just isn't my style. Nicola is okay, for me and her daughter is adorable, but I just never got attached to them. I also thought there was a lack in friend talk. There was some with dinners with Steph and Kayla, but it just didn't seem like enough....
I really can't put my finger on why I wasn't hooked into this story or wh it feels meh to me. It wasn't bad, but I guess I just wasn't interested either.
