I think it is either grossly unfair or a testament to Erin Morgenstern's amazing work ethic and good support team that this debut novel is a thing of absolute beauty. It resembles a puzzle or a mystery and is, in some ways, rather hard to “enter” as a story. Once the ball was rolling (or the carousel spinning, so to speak) I could not put it down. Ms. Morgenstern claims that all of her writing is “fairy tales in some way” and I look very forward to reading more.
