DNF - PG 51
Why?
I shall sum it up in quotes.
PG 22
“Don't think for a moment that you've escaped me. I am your fate. I have the taste of your blood now. Run now if you're afraid, but I will come after you. I will always find you. You will be mine.”
Ladies and gents, we have the culmination of our first meeting between the main character and her love interest. shudder He sound like one of those guys that obsesses over the girl and eventually, for her own protection, of course, locks her up in his closet.
PG 26
No quote, but a ‘mirror reflection description' of the main girl.
PG 28
How could she think I brought this on myself? Yes, I'd ventured too far, but there was no way to know that man would be up there...
Way to own up to your mistakes, brat.
PG 31
You will deliver your daughter to me, specifically, the very lovely Princess Andromeda. I had the pleasure to become acquainted with her today and was delighted to find her heritage is true. I have reason to believe my dear Andromeda will accept my offer with pleasure, and I send her my fondest regards.
And, ladies and gents, this is the letter our dashing love interest sent to the King ever so politely demanding that his ‘dear Andromeda' be given to the slime. The first we've heard of him since the reaction back on PG 22. slow clap Yay for creeps!
PG 32
“You were born a monster and now you show your true face before us all.”
A real example of a kind, loving father. (And you married a monster then, you cretin.)
PG 36
As if Rayfe's blood even now crawled through mine, tainting me in some horrifying, irreparable way.
Is there even words for this?
PG 45
No quote, but...
This girl is a real piece of work. She refuses to tell anyone the entire truth then takes offence when her sisters don't believe her. And on the note of her sisters...I thought they'd be a nice family. You know, girl power and help each other through anything in solidarity. I hoped for it. Instead I got a bunch of shrews that say some of the meanest things to each other and I kind of hate all three of them.
I've turned over a new leaf this year. I've been trying to make at least 50 pages of any book before I pull the plug on reading it. This way I think that I give them enough time to settle into the story and for me to decide if it's for me or not. Well, without this guideline, I would have stopped reading on page 22 and, truly, the book went downhill for me from there.
