I only downloaded this cause the cover suggested a Snape like character, and it was exactly that! Professor: Yes - Works in a Lab: Yes - Broody and angry: Yes - but actually söft: Yes - Only wears black: Yes - prefers his coffee black: for some reason that's a fandom favourite and also yes, if there were a genre for Snape-like characters I would exclusively read that, but there isn't so there's book like this one (and fanfiction) and that was really entertaining. Hazelwood knows her tropes and really had fun writing her book and I enjoyed every bit.
The less I say about this book, the better, I think.
Some spoilers, possibly, but I wish I'd known these things going in.
I didn't expect to love Love Hypothesis, but I didn't expect to dislike parts of it either. I disliked parts of it. I didn't believe the Adam Carlsen who was so horrible to his students (His parents were diplomats! He had had a cruel mentor and then he became one?!) I didn't see that the kissing strategy Olive employed in the opening chapter would be justified or even work. Sitting on Adam's lap? Really? At a scientific meeting? Tom's shift in personality? And making Adam a buff athletic superman scientist? Too much. But the real topper for me was the porn scene in the book. Did I want that bedroom door opened? No, I did not.
These are all just my very own opinions, and you may think about things completely different from me. But...very disappointing. Adam Carlsen believed in being honest with students who weren't cutting it, saying there are too many bad scientists out there already. Well, I believe the same way about authors.
I loved, loved, loved this book!
This is definitely the book if you're in the market for something sweet with grumpy x sunshine mc's!
It was so easy to read and I couldn't put it down.
Did I mention I loved it? Definitely read it next!
4.5 Stars!
Listen - I liked it, but it wasn't good. This is like that shitty rom-com you watch every few years because it's just fun to watch when you are bored or want some background noise - like Twilight or The Proposal. The characters are cookie-cutter romance characters. The best friend, gay roommate, fake dating, he falls first - all the tropes and cliches are in here. It's not bad, but it's not memorable and there's nothing actually interesting that happens. The bad guy is like a cartoon villain, and the description of the main love interest being absolutely so so so tall gets really freaking old. Not to mention the cringe that is the sex scene (it's really really bad).
Overall, read it if you like romances but if it's not your genre, you're going to feel the same way I do.
I wasn't expecting to enjoy that so much but it was basically flawless: pacing, plot, characterization, etc. And bonus points for funny. The sex scene was too long for my taste but I'm not usually much for romance novels and I reckon its pretty standard.
Couldn't finish it. Started because of TikTok but couldn't get past chapter 5.
I tried!!!
Wow! I did not think that I would like this book—I mainly bought it because my friend is into Star Wars and because I wanted to be included—but I loved it. It definitely read like fanfiction, but that's what I was looking for and it was perfect.
- Enemies to lovers
- Fake daiting
- Ciencia

i wanted so badly to be a hater but unfortunately this book kind of fucks ngl. it's very by bottoms for bottoms (girl i get it he is BIG) but like. miss hazelwood popped off a little bit in her reylo fanfic and i cannot take that from her
I picked this book up and physically couldn't put it down. I tried to, multiple times and just couldn't stop reading. Managed to multitask cooking and eating while reading.
I had a case of holiday blues when I started reading this and it was a welcome escape for a few hours into the story of Olive and Adam. I really loved the characters and how the entire romance between them developed.
Why wasn't it a 5⭐️ read? I think it just lacked some complexity and depth in the plot.

Really cute rom-com in book form! This one does a nice job of building up the characters and romance. Plus, the female characters are smart, strong scientists! I look forward to her next book.
I went into this book blind and it became pretty clear in the first half of the book that it was originally a reylo fanfiction. Although I'm sure the name ‘Adam' and the cover illustration helped in clicking that link though.
Honestly though it vives better if you're thinking of it as a fanfiction. It's quite a clumsy read as actual novel, requires suspension of disbelief of quite a few scenes to make sense.
Cute and fun and interesting, although honestly the sex scene felt very out of place (not poorly written but not as in character as the rest of the book). But overall it was an adorable book with fun rom-com tropes.
This has been a fun read for 75% of the book. It was quirky and witty. Olive and Adam were a good match and their interaction enticed me to continue reading. But the other 25% is just purely ... repeated stupidity.
I'm not a hard to please reader, I really am not.
I enjoy the conversations between Olive and Adam. The words felt real and genuine. I don't mind the fact that the author was hellbent on saying that Adam was an ass while the only ass thing about him was that he did his job mercilessly.
I also don't mind Olive clumsy lies to her friend and her abrupt decision to kiss a random dude in the hallway. Who wouldn't do that for a friend?
What I do mind is that midway through the book the story advanced by Olive sprouting another lie, a horrible lie and making no attempts to fix it before doing a myriad of other things with Adam. At this point, I found her a bit hypocritical and harsh. If Adam criticising curtly on a student's work as a part of his job is trashy, asshole, Olive insisting that she wanted to have sex with him while he obviously was hurt by the fact she was into someone else not him will be waste processing, landing filling trash level.
Usually, miscommunication is at the core of all problems in modern day rom-com. And I think that is fine. I don't need some complex reason. But it needs to be executed nicely. The second miscommunication in this book was not it.
Overall, it was a simple, quick to consume book. It's rom-com. It's the bad guy - good girl story. It's the faking dating to the save the world story. I will be lying if I say I did not love the 75% that was good. But I just hate the other 25% so much that it's a 3-star for me.
Kinda didn't feel this book as much as everyone else seems to. Felt like there were a lot of plot holes and I just did not feel as connected to the characters as I wanted to be. They seemed a little two dimensional....
4,5 ⭐️
I don't get the hype...
I considered to stop reading it, but I was more than half way done and I wanted to know the ending (mostly with Tom). The last few chapters were really good, that's why it is 3 stars and not 2,5. Really like the epilogue by the way :)
