Thank you to Netgalley for a eARC of this book to read and review, all thoughts and opinions are my own!
I really liked how this book started off, I didn't quite understand what all it was about at first but I was still pretty interested none-the-less from the get-go. The main character was auditioning for Belle in a Beauty and The Beast musical in the beginning and then inherited a coffee shop from a dead relative she'd never met... of course I was invested!
I will say without spoiling too much, there is some murder and death but this is by no-means a thriller or suspense book. Go into it as a comedy with romance on the side and quirky characters.
It's a very fun & comedic read!
I'd say this book hits like Arsenic & Old Lace, the black and white movie with Carry Grant, which is one of my favorite movies lol
Not saying I agreed with every decision characters made, because why the heck did Adele date that idiot for half the freaking book when I just wanted him to be one of the missing-customers-that-turned-out-to=be-murdered?? I digress though.
Definitely a read for when fall starts, I'll probably re-read it this coming fall for the coffee & murder vibes!
This sounded like a fun book so I thought why not. For the first quarter of the book, I genuinely forgot this book was supposed to contain terror as the name suggests. I was reading through this as a nice little cozy coffee shop book. The horror never really builds up, but it does have mostly non-graphic deaths in the book.
The first half of the book was a good build-up of the shop and characters. I didn’t like that the main character stays with the Finance Bro for so long but I did like that the MC learned more about the male lead before their romance starts. This was less romance and horror than I was expecting based on the description. There is also not much discussion about how the “killer(s)” chose victims and why it went on for so long.
I can’t help but like this book. It’s a nice cozy chosen family kind of book and just what I needed.
