This book has all the markings of something I should love. Modern / urban fantasy, and a good mystery? Sign me up, right? Wrong.

Holy shit this book is not written well – and I really, really wanted it to be. I think the author was going for a noir detective feel, but when I have to read 3 shitty similes a page, it's a little much. I forced myself to at least give the book a fair chance – I had to get to at least 30% of the way through before calling it quits. Well – I made it to 33% and just gave up. I couldn't do it. Maybe it gets better, maybe the writing improves, but it's not worth my time to find out.

Oh well. On to the next book.
