This was like a 4.5- but I love everything about it. I could not stop laughing every time Gwyn called him ‘esquire'.
This book was just as good as the first.
The characters are enjoyable and I especially like the three little witches Gwyn has decided to help along the way.
The story was up and down for me. Some parts were really great and some felt slow for the story progression, but overall I enjoyed it. It was the perfect read to go in and out of and not miss anything. A great book for the fall.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this.
It was cute, and the characters were ok but I wasn't feeling the romance.
I enjoyed The Ex Hex much more, and it influenced my expectations when I started this one. It just wasn't as good for me.
Maybe, more of a case of “It's not the book, it's me.”, so take this rating with a grain of salt.
I tried. I wanted to see if Sterling's writing got better so I read the sequel. It didn't. If you're into vapid unromantic romances, go for it. It reads like an early T-Swift song and if you know me, you know that's not remotely a compliment. This series is just a nope for me.
Halloween vibes! Great Halloween themed witchy contemporary romance. Fast and funny with a tiny bit of mystery/suspense and a few steamy scenes. Cozy paranormal romance?
This was such a cute seasonal/holiday read! It was all of the cozy, cheesy, magical, and fun things I love about Halloween. This story takes place in Grave's Glen (the same place The Ex Hex took place) and follows the story of Wells (Rhys's brother) and Gwyn (Vivienne's cousin). This is a rivals to lovers romance with thick sexual tension and fun payoff. Gwyn and Wells are both witches. After moving back to Grave's Glen for a fresh start, Wells opens up a shop near Gwyn's, and that's where the tension sparks. They work together to solve some mysterious things that are happening around town. Such a cute and fun read. Fans of The Ex Hex will like it as it had similar vibes, but it can be read as a stand-alone. This is an adult romance, 18+ for sexual content and language.
Ooooh i liked it!! Both Gwynn amd Wells were fantastic and I liked that we've gotten more of Bowen too. Simon is a dick and I thoigh he might do shit like that. Ahhh i really hoped for a scene in whocj Gwynn shows Wells the picture of her with purple hair, I really needed to see Well's reaction and I can't gove full 5 stars because of that. While I enjoyed this book somewhat more than the previous one, I e joued the ending of Tne Ex Hex more. 4.85/5
This book follows the story of Gwynn (Vivi's cousin) and Wells (Rhys brother) after his return to their Graves Glen. I preferred this book to the Ex Hex but I must confess I'm still not a fan of the whole setting and [a:Erin Sterling 12326128 Erin Sterling https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1633353157p2/12326128.jpg] writing style. We get to see a bit more magic but nothing I would consider enough for a witch/ Halloween story.
An excellent book to read at Halloween time, I think I liked it better than the Ex Hex. The setting and the characters are great. It feels like one of those comfortable young adult books you love reading growing up, with the sassy witches and the witchy shop...until you get to the “adult” parts. It's not that they were badly done, they're just not my thing, and felt incongruous with the feel of the rest of the book. I would love to lend this book to my mother...but there's no way I'm lending this book to my mother.

Thank you to Netgalley and Avon Books for providing an ARC copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Oh, this was just a lot of fun! If you're anything like me, sometimes you can sit down and just inhale a romance book. If I didn't have a toddler, that would have been me with The Kiss Curse. Despite having a toddler, this book went very quickly.
The Kiss Curse brings us back to the delightful witchy town of Graves Glen, and to the absolutely hilarious Jones family. Well — really just Gwyn, and very tiny glimpses of Vivi, the heroine from the first book, The Ex Hex. Vivi and her new husband, Rhys, go away on a honeymoon, and leave Gwyn alone to run their shop. I did miss their presence on page, but as they already had their book, this was probably the best decision possible. This really gave Gwyn and Wells a chance to shine, and dang did their personalities just jump off the page.
Gwyn is a hilarious, very powerful witch, and I loved her so much. Wells is a little more stick-in-the-mud traditionalist when it comes to magic, but he very quickly loosens up. To be honest, Gwyn all but forces him to let go a little. Together, their chemistry was basically fire. They hate each other at the start of the book, but by the middle, they're basically climbing each other. It's fantastic. Not to mention the one real sex scene was incredibly steamy, so thumbs up to Erin Sterling, there.
The background plot of the book was interesting, but not as interesting as Gwyn and Wells together. To sum it up very simply: something is causing Gwyn's magic to go haywire, and no one is quite sure what it is. It's incredibly similar to the plot of the first book without being an exact copy. I wish their had been a little more variation, but whatever. I wasn't really here for that. I wanted more Gwyn and Wells.
Oh and — Sir Purrcival is definitely still on page, and he's definitely still talking, so I was extremely happy.
Four and half stars for pure enjoyment's sake.
