The two plot lines are utterly, captivatingly complementing each other, crafting a canvas of colorful bits and pieces - most dark but with splashes of light, woven into the fabric of who they are as people and how all the traumatic experiences have shaped their personalities and life choices.

If Atticus was the shield, then Ernest was the core, protected behind it, both , equally important parts of the whole piece.
