I just finished reading this thriller psychological novel.I really liked it. It is well-written ,engaging and filled with plot-twists.It felt like watching a scary movie with no time to a breath.
WOW. I loved this one. The short chapters kept me engaged and I was SHOCKED at how many twists there were. This is the first book that I didn't want to put down in quite a while.
DNF. The main character was so naive, it was annoying. She was supposedly desperate to keep the job, but she seemed to be more concerned with stealing the husband. And when that went a little too easy, she wasn't suspicious of that at all. The ‘plot twist' wasn't that surprising, so I wish Millie good luck for the rest of the story and I'll move on to a better book.
I loved this so much. So fast paced with some crazy twists, that aren't completely original but were well done. This is the perfect domestic page-turner. loved the multiple POVs and really turns the whole book on its head when Andrew NOT Nina is the evil one!
The Housemaid – Did Not Finish
This didn't work at all for me.
The writing is very basic, the plot is risible, and it’s filled with unrealistic situations straight out of countless B-movies and books.
I’m sure this book works for a lot of people in some situations, but not for me. I won’t be giving this author another chance.
3.5 rounded up. The first half of the book I was more annoyed than interested but I did really like the twist and the ending. Don't think I'll read any of the other books in the series tbh
Definitely a lot of fun. It's been a. While since I've read a proper beach holiday thriller and this one works well. Short chapters, easy read, and keeps you guessing. Enjoyable!
Mrs. Freida McFadden!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This was my first McFadden book. It was filled with suspense and unexpected twist. Just when I thought I figured something out, boom it was something else. I look forward to reading some more of her work!
I find this book has the same vibe with Gone Girl. The story entailing around psychological and thriller, with plot twists.
This is was surprisingly good.
What annoyed me tho is mentioning the characters full names every other time. Soooo unnecessary but okay.
Andy deserved a much more gruesome death but I'll take it.Nina and Millie, such strong women — bravo!
Might read the next book. Might not. Let's see.
3.5 estrellas
Recomendable!!
This book through me for a loop! It does a great job of character building and evokes emotions out of you while you read. I did NOT expect any of the twists this book had especially the sudden point of view switch 😵💫 I can see why this is one of Frieda's top books! I flew through this book! The only thing I wish the ending went in a different direction but nonetheless a great recommendation!
More like 2.5 rounded up.
Can't believe everyone was raving about this, it's nothing special.
THIS BOOK IS JUST THE BEST! I literally couldn't put it down, twists after twists n YESSSS Andrew deserved it. Every single character just kept shocking me. I love it!
We learn the plot twist right at the middle of the book, this would usually disappointing but WHO ARE WE KIDDING? THIS IS A FRIEDA MCFADDEN BOOK YALL- If anyone is looking for a huge plot twist kinda thriller book, this could be it if you haven't read a lotta thriller, BUT if you have, this book will still satisfy you BECAUSE OF THE MESSED UP STORY BEHIND THE PLOT TWIST
Falls flat to me. The character was unbearable for me. The revelation of the twist was okay.
To its credit, The Housemaid never tries to disguise that it's a genre piece and relies on a quick plot with sudden plot twists and several saucy situations to give its readers instant entertainment. One needs to keep this intention the writer has in mind while looking at The Housemaid. The novel doesn't attempt to do anything new. It just assembles several tropes from numerous similar books and movies to weave together its plot, style, and structure. I felt a strong sense of Deja Vu while reading it, and the most obvious inspirations that came to my mind were ‘Rebecca' and ‘Gone Girl'.
