Okay, so this book was good. I was super excited to read it, but I was somewhat disappointed. It's like looking forward to your favorite dessert, only for it to not live up to its expectations.
Joe Thorne moved back to Arnhill. The last place he wanted to move back to, but with the thought that history was repeating itself, he felt he had to do it. He lied to get a job teaching at his old high school so he could take down who is at fault for all that is happening.
“But the hardest part of all will be returning to that abandoned mine where it all went wrong and his life changed forever, and finally confronting the shocking, horrifying truth about Arnhill, his sister, and himself. Because for Joe, the worst moment of his life wasn't the day his sister went missing. It was the day she came back.”
First of all, I am not a huge fan of the characters. Joe was slightly annoying and unstable. The only one I somewhat enjoyed was Beth. There were too many unnecessary people and it got to be a bit confusing for me. I didn't hate this book at all, I was just super excited to read it! It was a slow read until more than halfway through. It started picking up and then it started to get a bit weird. It just didn't make sense to me, really. I loved the idea of it, it just wasn't my favorite.
Again, this was a good book, but it was hyped up to be something much greater. It showed me how different mystery/thrillers could be and how my opinion is NEVER going to be the exact same as someone else's. There are books out there for everyone, but unfortunately, this one was not for me.
I just have so many questions I want to ask C.J. Tudor. Although I was not the biggest fan of the book, I do still believe she is a great author. I am looking forward to her next one!
