Los primeros tres... estuvieron bien. Pues no fueron como que la gran cosa, pero si fueron interesantes, pero este... NO lo fue, la protagonista me parece de lo mas superficial y egocéntrica, no pude terminal el otro ni siquiera lo empecé a leer porque no me atrevía ha siquiera volver a leerla.
Sino no tuviera respeto por los libros lo habría botado.

Gave up. Poorly written, no character development, no discernible plot; petty, vain, shallow protagonist; even more clearly bachelorette-inspired than the first 3. I could overlook it in the first ones bc there were some redeeming factors, but this one...no.

DNF around 10%.

Didn't think I could come across a worse FMC than America, then along came Eadlyn. What is about this series that I'm not seeing? It's popular, yet I can't stand the main characters.

Honestly the main character personality made me roll my eyes a thousand times, let's see how the story continues on the next book.

3.5* mainly bc the main character is a brat and there hasnt been quite enough growth through this book for me to love her yet... hoping that we see that growth in the final book

I LOVED IT

I just finished this book and enjoyed it as much as the first book in the series. Absolutely gutted that you don't find out who she chooses before the end of the book - especially as we are in the middle of a lockdown due to COVID-19 and I can't borrow the next book until who knows when!

Best book of the series so far!

3 stars This sequel does not justice to the original Selection. I cannot believe Maxon and America would force their daughter to have her own just to their people, this is ridiculous... Eadlyn is a bit of an annoying brat in the beginning, nothing like her mother during her Selection, and I know it's not fair to compare them as they are two individuals, but yeah. I do think she grows a lot as a character and that's always appreciated. She's flawed, she realizes it and she tries to be better.Also, the comment when people wonder if she's a lesbian just because she's independent and questions why she needs a husband to rule. Can we not. But also why isn't the selection open to both genders? I'm kind of over the cliché hetero relationships in YA.

Oh I hate Eadlyn so much. I know she's getting better as a person, but I just don't like her attitude. I don't like her at all. I do love the other characters but I don't like her.

Okay, enough about me don't liking Eadlyn. The book is great as always. What really annoys me is that they selected are such jerks. I loved the selection with America and Maxon, but this is different. I'm not going to read the last book any time soon

I really hope that Eadlyn will choose Kile, because he's the one I like the most. And it would be sooo cute if they were together given the fact that they grew up together and never got the chance to discover each other.

I still can't put into words why this series is so addictive??? I am interested in the ways Cass was kinda trying to do something feminist here with Eadlyn occasionally mentioning double standards about how men are ~assertive~ and she's ~bitchy~ even though she's a ~future queen~ and all the men are just garbage peasants. The problem is that Eadlyn is basically like a teenage Lucille Bluth??? Which is weird because her parents are basically socialist royals?? also the technology in this world still makes NO GODDAMN SENSE IT'S 300 YEARS IN THE FUTURE AND THE RICHEST PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY HAVE LIKE ONE LAND LINE AND NO INTERNET AND THEY KEEP MAKING SERVANTS DELIVER HAND-WRITTEN NOTES AND I'M FURIOUS AND NOBODY HAS BOTHERED TO MAKE ANY MEDICAL ADVANCEMENTS AT ALL ARGHHHHHalso we listened to this on audio and then later I learned that Kyle and Aaron spell their names Kile and Ahren because the future??? also SWENDWAY god they kept saying SWENDWAY and I couldn't handle italso it's very rude of the palace not to provide a translator for their Swendish visitorughhhhhhhh

I liked Eadlyn more than America. She is quite bitchy but not as indecisive as her mother was in the previous books.

If you go through my ratings, you will see that I almost never give 1 star to a book. This is the second or third book I gave 1 star in 3 YEARS. So yeah, it was bad.

Kiera Cass, I want to tell you that this book was such a disappointment and you just lost a reader.
You wrote a book with the EXACT same formula as your previous trilogy, but this was so bad that you can notice this books was made just for the money. If you say to me that this book had thought put in it before publishing it, I would never believe you, because this was so bad written that I was cringing the whole time, but I kept reading, hoping that I would get better, but it never got better... It got even worse.
This book had all the things I didn't like, and lacked all the good stuff that kept me reading The Selection.
Eadlyn it's so annoying! She LITERALLY says like 30 times “I'm the most powerful person in the planet” and “I can do what I want”. She is the worst character EVER. For this kind if book people say shit about the Young Adult genre.
This book lacks of everything a good book should have: It doesn't have ANY character development. She's the same spoiled stubborn brat from beginning to end. When some of the characters show her the mistakes she is doing, she just makes a scene and leaves the room dramatically. She would freak out about the littlest thing and be SO mean to everybody for no reason! When other people did stuff the only thing she was thinking it's how it would affect her!
I have never read a character that was so self-absorbed.
The plot didn't go anywhere: the plot was so simple she being mean, she realizing she's a bitch, she forgetting about it and being a bitch all over again and so on.
There was a subplot that if it was well developed it would have make this book really great, but Cass decided to keep it in the shadows.
The boys: some of them were okay, some of them were gross. The only one I liked was Eric and he didn't even was in the selection...
The only parts I enjoyed were the ones with Maxon and America because they're so freaking cute!
But in conclusion, this book was terrible. Like really really terrible.

Well, then. I finished this in one day. There were some plot holes, it was incredibly difficult to keep up with all the guys (and it got annoying at points), and I'm a little mad that there is still so many guys left but I get why she did it so its fine BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY:

WHAT IS UR ISSUE REVIEWERS???
1) Eadlyn's voice as a MC is WAY different that America's and
2) I love love love how bitchy she is. DO YOU NOT SEE WHAT KIERA CASS IS DOING HERE YOU FOOLS? MC is trying to convey strength and power and is worried that her feminine side will negate that. THIS IS THE STRUGGLE GUYS. Too girly? No one will make you seriously? Too harsh? You're a bitch with no emotions. She is learning to straddle that line and struggling with the realities of her gender and her position. I LOVE her character and I LOVE how well done this struggle is.

The “love story” is fun too, although part of me hopes the winner is not Kile just because it would be so obvious. (rooting for Erik just because it would be different)...but honestly? no one is sticking out and no connection is sticking out besides the others. But i think thats the point. this installment is not about one connection equaling true love, it is about Eadlyn discovering she CAN make connections.

I look forward to the next one! :)

Fun and easy read. I liked the new main character and her family with the portrayal of adult America and Maxon.

SpoilerI was surprised about the ending! I saw that there wasn't much space in the book left and figured that we weren't going to get a completed selection in the end and prepared myself for being upset about that. I wasn't upset, though. I thought the ending was really lovely. Also, my feelings were as mixed up as the princess'. I wasn't shipping any one selected boy, there were good things about many of them. I guess that was the point.

I thought it would be hard to end a book when you dislike a character as much as I did with Eadlyn. First, I really considered abandoning it... yet, I didn't hate the story either. The guys are interesting characters (not all of them, but some : Kile, Henri, Erik...) and I'm looking forward to know them better. I won't say I can't wait to read the next books but I will. Because in spite of Eadlyn, that was distracting.

I loved the Selection series even though it's the type of thing I wouldn't normally read. They were fun, light-hearted books and I enjoyed America even though she could be a bit annoying. Overall, it was a really good series. This book was disappointing in comparison. I found it difficult to deal with Eadlyn and she seemed like a brat throughout but was totally oblivious to that. It was an interesting idea to move on to the next generation of the royal family, but Eadlyn just was too annoying for me to enjoy it all that much. I did enjoy the feminist aspects of it though; I thought they were well done and I was so happy that it was included.

It was actually better than I expected. Then again, I thought it was going to be just horrible, so that's not saying much.

It was okay. It definitely lacked some of the stuff that made me like the first three better. And I still feel the same way that I did before I read this book- it's completely unnecessary. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The One had a clear, and definite ending. This book, and the one after it, is not necessary.

I liked Eadlyn about the same as I did America, although they are vastly different characters. Eadlyn could be very bratty and selfish at times, but I tried to look past that. I felt at every chapter though, she was always saying how she was “the most powerful”, and it got really repetitive and annoying. My dear friend Alex can vouch for this, I promise. I ranted a bit about it to her- sorry, Alex, but not really.

I enjoyed some other characters, such as Kaden and Kile, but some of the boys just seemed very similar to me. Personality and speaking-wise, that is. It was interesting to see Eadlyn's mind-shifts throughout the book, though.

There weren't any real plot twists in the book until the last 15 pages. No, really. There were only two, and they both happened within 15 pages of the end of the novel.

Like I said before, it was okay. I'd give it around a 2.75. Obviously I'll have to suck it up and read the next and (hopefully) last one when it comes out.

Initial Thoughts (5/6/15):
Pretty disappointing for me. I'm intrigued enough to read the next one just because of the way this one ended but I did not enjoy it anywhere near as much as the original trilogy.

I really enjoyed the original Selection Trilogy, I loved the story between Maxon and America and I loved how quick I flew through the books. The writing was fun and I loved the light nature of the books. So when Kiera Cass announced two more books in the series following the next generation, I was really excited. However, while I was really excited, I was also very apprehensive about it because I had a feeling this was one of those, let's make more money out of this series even though it already ended sort of thing.

And I have to say, I was really disappointed in this installment. It felt like Kiera Cass was making drama for no reason other than to take away from the fluffy aspect of the first three books. I found Eadlyn to be annoying (and yes, America was annoying, but Eadlyn was worse). The romance between Eadlyn and the suitors was cute, but I feel like in this book she is so against The Selection as a whole that we do not even get to see her truly try to get to know the guys. I also feel like the main three (not going to give names, because spoilers) are all cliche picks and I do not like that. I definitely have a favorite, but at the same time I do not think picking him is the best move, either.

So while I was disappointed with this book, the plot and some of the characters, I still love the world and idea of The Selection. With how the book ended however, I'm going to be forced to pick up the fifth one.

Overall, I was really disappointed with this book. While I still enjoyed the writing and the premise, I do not think continuing this series was necessary. I may be in the minority by saying this though, and I totally get if you really loved this book, but for me it was a let down after the original trilogy. This book is getting 3 Crowns because while it irked me to no end, it was still enjoyable and I love the world.
