Very insightful book. While economics sounds like a pale, maybe boring subject, this author has the skill to approach it in a funny and playful tone, making the rigid data a bit more accessible to the average person. To me it raised some interesting questions about what really matters, and whether the things we measure are really the important things, long term. Well rounded, not forgetting to admit some advantages of current measurement solutions, even though the general tone is critical about USA's most dominant measuring tool for economic growth - the GDP. As an european, I am not that naturalized with the concept of GDP, but I found in the book many equivalent situations and pertinent critiques to the way some economic activities are being measured. Chasing growth does not always yield the best results. An invitation to proceeding with more cautiousness, and a good starting point for changing our perceptions about what constitutes good growth and what is growth just for the sake of growth. Economic growth is presented not as a goal in itself, but rather as a tool to achieve each one's aspirations and goals. A kind, funny and honest reminder that our obsession with growth, as modern societies, is often unjustified.
