Books 1-5 are awesome. Books 6-10 are... less awesome. The series kind of goes off the rails after the first half.
I'm giving this 3 stars on average, but I'd rate the five Corwyn books somewhat higher and the five Merlin books somewhat lower.
didn't finish. The first 30 pages were fantastic - a man wakes up in a hospital bed with hostile nurses and no memory of who he is. He has to think his way out, gaining information little by little while never letting on that he knows nothing. That part was great. Everything after his memory loss seemed super boring.
Unique series. Extremely well written. But a bit... all over the place, redundant, often hard to follow, and in the end... meh. I liked the style, the dialog, the world, and the general idea behind it all... but the plot was tiresome and time again I said to myself “why am I reading this?”
Anyway. Loads of people love this series. I liked elements of it, but I am not really a fan.
