I'm probably going to get flamed for this review, but this book was so.....white.

It is so obviously written by a white person that at times I actually forgot I was reading about Chinese people in China. There was no culture here at all. There were a few moments where certain things were done that were obviously Chinese tradition, but they were almost an afterthought.

I honestly can't believe that this book won a Pultizer and that people read this thinking this was a good representation of Chinese culture.

Just ugh.
