Imagination has no limits and in this story, it reaches extremely dark and disturbing lengths. Has Ollie ever considered that his “precious behind” could be a sacred vessel for God's blessing? Certainly not. Who would have thought what really lies behind the doors of the Shining Path? Certainly not a glittering future. The only shiny thing are the c#m stains....At the beginning of the story, I thought it was a tiny bit funny; dark humor, but still humor. Because, seriously, how could Ollie be so gullible? How sheltered was his life before, to accept the obvious lies and absurdity of the situation he was in, like it's perfectly normal occurrence? In his desperation to be accepted and to belong in a community, Ollie embraces the depravity of the religious cult, hiding behind a thin religious veneer, that has nothing to do with the Christianity, he knows about. But the dark humor quickly turns into a feeling of complete horror when the story develops and Ollie slips into the darkness. Undeniable fact - Jay L.North knows how to deliver a truly dark read on a silver platter, complete with ....not the HEA you expect. Don't ignore the TW, because it hurts ...a lot...
