I had a hard time getting into the groove of this one (maybe because I didn't remember enough of the first book), but it did get interesting in the second half. This one has not only Cyra's chronic pain, but a very pivotal and compelling lesbian relationship, and there are a few nonbinary characters, so that's pretty cool. The worldbuilding is still pretty neat. Somehow this just didn't feel as powerful as the first book though. Even by the ending I was still wondering if it was going to be a trilogy (apparently not!).
