*NOW A NETFLIX SERIES* In this spine-tingling next book of the Lockwood & Co series, the ghost-hunting gang take on terrifying new challenges. Five months after the events in The Creeping Shadow, we join Lockwood, Lucy, George, Holly, and their associate Quill Kipps on a perilous night mission: they have broken into the booby-trapped Fittes Mausoleum, where the body of the legendary psychic heroine Marissa Fittes lies. Or does it? This is just one of the many questions to be answered in Book 5 of the Lockwood & Co. series. Will Lockwood ever reveal more about his family's past to Lucy? Will their trip to the Other Side leave Lucy and Lockwood forever changed? Will Penelope Fittes succeed in shutting down their agency forever? The young agents must survive attacks from foes both spectral and human before they can take on their greatest enemy in a climactic and chaotic battle. And to prevail they will have to rely on help from some surprising--and shadowy--allies. Jonathan Stroud once again delivers a rousing adventure full of danger, laughs, twists, and frights. The revelations will send readers back to Book 1 to start the series all over again. Exclusive to this paperback edition: a Lockwood & Co. short story, "The Dagger in the Desk," and an illustrated ghost guide.

I'm glad I finished this series. I loved it. Maybe I have some questions after the ending but I'm happy to answer them myself.
I just adore this series. Super creepy while also being fun and funny. The characters are so vividly written, so good in fact that my favorite is a talking skull! I'm sad the series has ended because I'd just keep reading more.
Finally, an ending and (I hope) a new beginning...............
What started as something unique, imagine your children, or your neighbor's children, at the stroke of 6 in the evening, wherein normally, the family is preparing for dinner, but within Mr. Stroud's universe, it is time for children to fight.
The first book was an engaging read, the start of Lucy Car lyle at Lockwood & Co., the challenges they had to overcome, and on to numerous adventures, now the final book is done, and some questions were answered, the start of the Problem(when spirits or ghosts started appearing and attacking humans, how only children can see, hear, talk to these entities), how the various Agencies were formed especially two of the biggest and well known Fittes and Rotwell, how a small agency was able to hold it's own, and solve one of the mystery in this universe, the aforementioned start.
Reading The Empty Grave was like having and holding on to a secret knowledge that is so time sensitive that it made the atmosphere so tense, manic and every action taken by Lockwood, George, Holly, Lucy and last but not the least Kipps in a hurried manner(ohhhhhhh no spoiling of the why of this....), the volume was crammed with a lot more information, a lot more action and comedy(such a wonderful feeling after so much horror and fear), the action especially the latter part was enjoyable, I was hoping Mr. Stroud would continue the series, those type two's and three's are really fascinating, added to that is the hope that finally adults can now fight too............
I really would recommend binge reading this series, I felt the fourth book should have been this one massive volume instead of having a fifth one since they were closely interconnected........so many answers to questions but at the same time so many answers that spawn new questions..........
