I've read several books by Mary Higgins Clark now and I have to say I'm almost always disappointed. They seem to have an interesting plot, but what really doesn't do anything for me is the characters. I just don't care about them. If someone dies it's sad because someone dies, but I don't care any more than I would if it were a complete stranger. I find it really hard to feel invested in a story when I don't care what happens to the characters, and that is exactly how I felt while reading this one. Sadly, the plot is just not good enough to save it. It's an ok read, but if I were you, I wouldn't bother.
To be fair I don't think I've read any of her books in English though, so it could be the translation.
