The Captain and Miss Winter

Neat Snow White tale with a girl and her sister and grandmother in the forests of France, once rich but now poor, and recently being stalked by a shadowy figure in the woods. When the hero requests shelter from a terrible snowstorm, they are on the point of losing the battle with the cold themselves, so he sticks around long enough to get them plenty of firewood and do a little hunting. But he finds out about the stalker and a light mystery unfolds.
