The Boy at the Door

Can't work out whether it is the writing or the translation (if indeed it was translated) that feels a little overblown but there were times when I was getting irritated by the writing style. However, that said, enjoyed the book overall

Absolutely not for me...I couldn't get past the fifth chapter. Reading even these few pages was an absolute torchure. An awful protagonist that desperately tries to convince us how much she loves her children, even though they are a true nuisance. Loaded with every cliche we may think of, horrible writing, awful dialogue. I doubt Norwegians use the word ‘‘baby'' every other sentence, I doubt the F-bombs explode so often in the Nordic countries' speech. I can see why many would like this one. For me, it was beyond bad...

Rating this would be dishonest of me since I didn't finish it.
