This book combines the story of a First World War spy with the story of a young woman looking for a relative who disappeared during the Second World War. It was fascinating to read about the intricacies of spy work at the time, especially with the historical details at the end of the book. I was impressed with the way Eve's stutter was handled as well (and not surprised to find out a real person with a stutter consulted pretty deeply on the book).

The characters (both historical and fictional) were lively and fascinating. The only reason I'm rating 3 stars instead of 4 was that the 1947-era sections of the book included an extremely silly and questionable romance that I didn't like.
