In my NYC days of the 70's, we said “call me/ring once when you get home”. I enjoyed the book for the nostalgia it evoked in me but don't know if I agree with all Kayleen Schaefer's conclusions.
Starts good, but becomes repetitive. There is a reason some things should only be written as blogs or longform essays and not a whole book when there's not enough content.
friends are important, internalized misogyny is a thing, and isolated nuclear families are not sustainable community structures.
