Discover the exhilarating risks of passion in the breathtaking new Psy-Changeling novel by Nalini Singh, the New York Times bestselling “alpha author of paranormal romance”
(Booklist).
Adria, wolf changeling and resilient soldier, has made a break with the past—one as unpredictable in love as it was in war. Now comes a new territory, and a devastating new complication: Riaz, a SnowDancer lieutenant already sworn to a desperate woman who belongs to another.
For Riaz, the primal attraction he feels for Adria is a staggering betrayal. For Adria, his dangerous lone-wolf appeal is beyond sexual. It consumes her. It terrifies her. It threatens to undermine everything she has built of her new life. But fighting their wild compulsion toward one another proves a losing battle.
Their coming together is an inferno…and a melding of two wounded souls who promise each other no commitment, no ties, no bonds. Only pleasure. Too late, they realize that they have more to lose than they ever imagined. Drawn into a cataclysmic Psy war that may alter the fate of the world itself, they must make a decision that might just break them both.

I liked the Riaz/Adria story. It resonated with me. I think there was a bit too much Hawke/Sienna in this one. Some of their scenes could have been cut out, they weren't pertinent to the story.
I absolutely loved the relationship dynamic in this one. All the weight and importance that had been put on the mating bond in the past books just made this one even more special; two people choosing to love each other even without that special certain connection. Being brave despite the hurt in their past to choose each other, knowing it might end badly without that bond to fall back on, but doing it anyway because they love each other so much.
Ugh. UGH. That was so well done. Singh's couple's are just getting more and more compelling as we get to the end of the series.
Things are reaching critical mass with Silence and I think we don't have long now. The little snippet with Kaleb at the end had me RABID; he's one of my favorite characters in the whole universe and I can't WAIT to read his book!

Meh, I feel like I'm getting tired of this series. I miss some of the earlier couples, like Faith and Vaugh who were actually mentioned here but, barely.
I'm curious how Adria and her... husband? divorced since this is one of the first times it is brought up in the series. Obviously, they don't get married in the traditionally sense of the word and they weren't mates, so did nothing happen? Just called it quits and went their own way?
Also, I thought it was weird how the mating thing as changed. I think it would have been a better book if Riaz went with his mate. I really wish she had gotten divorced and they ended up together because then it would prove how powerful the mating bond is. In this case... I feel like it is not so important anymore. I did like that they weren't mated at the end... no official bond so they don't know what the other is thinking.
I still do enjoy the writing style and I'm waiting oh so patiently for this huge event that has been hinted to come for a long time now.
Always love Hawke and Sienna moments!!
