absolutely stunning from start to finish. gilmore girls but on an island, lorelai is a little less annoying and rory is two girls lorelai raised correctly
Thought this would be a fun light hearted story... nope.
It broke my heart. Its just a really sad book and I can't say why because of spoilers but it is a must read!
anyways, I'm off to go cry now
Cute! Witchy! Sister love! Important message(s)! Sapphic girls!
This was lovely, if a little underdeveloped. Would have loved to see the characters/relationships/story fleshed out more, especially the last third of the book. But this had all the soft, magical, sometimes sweet, sometimes sad summer vibes that I live for!!!
These are the type of books I wish I had when I was actually of the age range this was meant for. It didn't feel pandering on the topics explored in this but addressed it in a way that showed Leno appreciated her readers into understanding what was being expressed and knowing the message to take away from it. The subtle magical realism put into this was also great.
I'm a mess...
I didn't really like the book at first, but I fell in love with the second half! It was so heartbreaking and beautiful.
4.5 stars This book made me really nostalgic for unidentifiable reasons... One of the best books I've read in 2018 so far. I love magical realism, and this story was just so beautifully written with an important message and with diverse sexual representation. I took .5 of a star off because I saw a few things coming, but did it really lessen my enjoyment of the book? No. So I might come back and give it the 5 stars it deserves.
