This was a different flavor of urban fantasy that I haven't quite read before. Most urban fantasy (when I can find ones that I actually enjoy) are about teenagers or young 20 somethings, so it was refreshing to find one where the youngest person in the group was in her early 30s. It gave it a different feel, overall, and I enjoyed the different angle it gave to the story.
The writing was a bit thick with longer words and dense language that I don't really think it needed to have, but it was still an easy enough read. The found family within the group was absolutely precious and I loved the relationships, especially the focus on platonic/familial connections; there were hints of romance here or there but the main focus of the book was a group of friends drawing together and caring for each other like family, and I think a few more books could do with incorporating that instead of having a romantic connect be the main focus of the book.
A very nice read!
