The passionate romance of Twilight meets Greek mythology in this dazzling debut about star-crossed demigods. How do you defy destiny? Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is - no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood... and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history. As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together - and trying to tear them apart. “OMGods, I can’t wait to read more!” — Lauren Kate, New York Times bestselling author of Fallen

I should have hated it based on how it started, weak heroine, bland hero, cheesy insta-love, overly emotional and aggressive characters, but the book got better towards the end and since the mythological element was quite entertaining, the negative aspects lost their spotlight. I really don't care about the star-crossed lovers, but I do want to know what happens next with the blood curse.
This was actually a pretty good paranormal story. It was almost a retelling of the Trojan War, or at least the first part of it.
Slow start but at the same time kept me engaged bc I just wanted to know what she was sooo bad then I feel in Love with the book them by the last chapter I think I lost that bc the reason I loved it slipped away. I think it's an amazing read and I love most of the characters but the ending felt like there was so much going on every turn just for the last 2 sentences to be just so bland. I'm going to finish the series bc I love a good mythology in YA books they suck me in and this books have fates and prophecy it just makes everything 10x better.
