Meet Marcella the illegitimate cast off of an Old Vampier family.
She was raised to accept that she was the lowest of the low. But the one thing no one could dyne was her power. The elite academy she attends trains the future Sixth for a Brotherhood.
Who is the Brotherhood? They are five mixed male vampires who act as police for the Families. Their heritage can be mixed with Humans who have magical capabilities or other magically inclined beings like Shifters. The Brotherhood is controlled and exists for the sol preps of serving the Families. When the Brotherhood is deemed worthy they are sent to the Academy to be assigned their Sixth. She will be the sol full-blooded Vampier in their team and their mate. But with such an old race can Vampires truly keep politics out of their schools?
I truly enjoyed this book. There are mysteries around every corner. With a Female lead that will not let you down. Knowledge may have been kept from her but she isn't dumb, or a whiny bitch. Marcella is kick-ass with the potential to become even more powerful. In walks Her Brotherhood; Cade, Gideon, Barclay, Keiran, and Raven. I really like these guys' powers they were different and that allowed the author to play with her characters. It kept you guessing how they could use their powers to achieve their goals.
My issues with this book? The lack of Character description. The whole Brotherhood is described once and it's lacking, majorly, in detail. After that you only have the mention of one feature, to separate the men, physically. Example: Tattoos, silver hair, brown eyes, or blue eyes. I say those because those are the only ones I remember. I can't see the guys standing in a group with all their own features. My only other problem is that the author did not provide enough detail during exams/the elimination battles. It was a letdown. The whole book is about these trials to be the Sixth for the Brotherhood and as a reader, you don't get to see them.
Despite those issues, the plot has major potential and I am hooked. I would recommend this book and can't wait to read the next one.
