Fun
A little too quick for such a meaty (haha!) story, but it was fun! As always, I love a story that takes place locally to me too.
I liked the premise and the plot rolled along nicely; the artwork was competent but the characters all looked remarkably similar except for thier hair and I had difficulty differentiating who was who at times.
If mean girls were werewolves...seriously, a fun read and an idea that I really love! A new girl moves to town, too pretty and smart for her own good because she quickly is adopted into a pack of popular girls and is given an offer she really has no way to refuse. She's turned into a werewolf and hunts every full moon with the squad - of course they only hunt creepy guys out of town until other circumstances happen. Full of typical high school werewolf drama!
Despite how short this book was I feel like they filled it nicely and gave it a really interesting ending. I love love love the designs of everyone and the elements included, I especially love how the girls transformations were handled and their wolf forms were not that weird âwerewolf monster...but a girl!â designs, it was taken seriously and it turned out super great!!
BONUS the illustrator designed my tarot deck!! The modern witch tarot deck...so if you enjoyed the art go check her out! incredible!
Mean Girls/Heather but they turn into werewolves. This was just okay. The concept is great and there is some interesting things that happen. It could have been longer especially going into the lore of werewolves in this world. Though I liked the two girls getting together at the end (because everything could be gayer) but it felt kind of forced. It started about as friendship with one of them being in the closet, then all of sudden they are dating. That needed more time to develop.
More gruesome than I expected and I was on board with it. Loved the art and the character arcs.
Great teen graphic novel read. The art is terrific but the writing is also very well paced! The characters are pretty well developed and the conflict is clearly defined. This was like if a competent writer picked up a CW script if that makes any sense. Giving a lot of Teen Wolf meets Mean Girls vibes. Recommended!
i read this in part because i happened to hear multiple interviews where Maggie Tokuda-Hall discussed becoming a werewolf as a metaphor for sexual assault, and was rewarded with sapphic werewolves.
