This was a really fun read. There were several out-of-this-world elements to it but I found those tolerable if you focus on the main premise of this book: how a “fake” family of 3 people harbouring secrets of their own will deal with that tension while inevitably getting closer and more attached to each other.
Our protagonist is a spy, codename Twilight, who receives a mission to get closer to a reclusive politician. The only public appearance this politician makes is when he attends parent-teacher conferences at the school his son is attending: the prestigious Eden Academy. In order to get close enough to his target, Twilight has to create a “fake” family and pass off as a parent of a legitimate enrolled student in the Academy. He adopts Anya from the orphanage, not knowing that she is in fact psychic and knew from the very beginning about his true job as a spy and the nature of his mission. Later, he meets and proposes a fake marriage to Yor, a salesgirl with a predilection for kicking ass, also without knowing that she is in fact a secret assassin. The scene where Twilight “proposes” to Yor was truly iconic.
While the premise might have the tendency to get gritty, the story is uplifted by good doses of humour. It doesn't hurt to have little Anya around to lift the mood as well. There're some slightly more conservative values in here, at least in this first volume. The reason why Twilight needs to find a fake wife in the first place is because Eden Academy emphasizes traditional family value - so no single-parent families apparently.
Nevertheless, this was a light-hearted, episodic, and enjoyable read and I'd look forward to reading more from the series.
I've been avoiding this manga for years. Due to SpyxFamily's popularity, I was afraid I wouldn't like it. However, after finally giving it a chance, I was pleasantly surprised by its unique storyline and captivating characters. It's now one of my favorite series.
The synopsis reveals that all the main characters are exciting and interact in interesting ways. Twilight is a mysterious perfectionist whose skills are so good that no one knows who he actually is. Yor is brilliant, strong, and highly talented, but she tends to be awkward and shy. Anya is the cutest, most outgoing, and kind telepath you will ever meet.
The story plays with well-known tropes, like the fake dating trope, but turns it into a phony family trope. It gets even better when you remember this is an action sci-fi manga full of quality dialogue and good comedic timing. Having three main characters - one a spy, one an assassin, and one a telepathic child - makes everything much more enjoyable. Any situation they're in together is way more interesting.
With each chapter, I found myself becoming more and more intrigued and curious about this borderline-dystopian world. In this issue, you only know what you need to know, and a lot remains mysterious, which is smart since this is only the first issue. As for the main characters, you get snippets of their past and who they are, enough to intrigue you but not enough to spoil any significant epic reveals!
Overall, this manga promises an exciting and engaging read, filled with intriguing characters and a captivating storyline.
Such an entertaining and hilarious read! Great for a slump breaker. Anya is so cute she stole my heart <3
Fascinating to see the inherent asian misogyny though
Very fun premise with some funny characters. Good set up for a series and I’ll for sure be continuing it. I love that all the characters have these big secrets that the others don’t know about (aside from one who knows everything) and I’m excited to see when and how the reveals go down.

SOOOOO CUTEEE
only reason its not a 5 is because didnt get too much into the storyy, but im excited to start the next volumeee.
This is so cute! I can't believe that a spy, an assassin, and a telepath make such a cute family. And the way they all interact with each other without telling each other what is going on makes the whole situation more funny and clever.
This was so cute and fun!!! I loved the dynamic, characters, and the missions. Cannot wait to continue
this was super cute but a little overhyped to me. i enjoyed it for sure but it wasn't the most memorable. i plan on continuing and hopefully, it gets a bit better for me!
This is a perfectly fine manga. I wasn't blown away by the story as it was clearly a set up for the rest of the series.
anya is my favorite. shes such a funny kid. I love her. and what a wholesome family. the fact that twilight wants to defend his “fake” wife and kid instinctively rather than because its the right thing to do. and the interview infuriated me but it was so funny seeing anya getting confused and answering truthfully. i wonder when will he find out about her telepathic powers.
amazing!! this was a lot funnier than i expected and surprisingly lighthearted. i wanna binge them all forreal
L'un des meilleurs tome 1 que j'ai pu lire !
Les personnages sont tous très attachants, le scénario très rythmé et chaque case fait mouche.
J'attends la suite avec impatience, c'est un tome 1 sans faute pour moi
