We join Harry for his own account of his own experiences as a member of the British royal family. Starting at the time of Diana’s death he takes us through his life in school, the military, and his eventual exile from the family.
This was a book club read and I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly I was wrapped up in his story. I’m not sure if he had a ghostwriter, but the writing was so good, and I was engrossed from the beginning. It was fascinating to get his perspective on things that had previously only ever been covered by paparazzi. It gave me a much deeper understanding of the confines he grew up within, and the level of detachment that exists in the monarchy.
Understanding that this is HIS account of events, makes me wonder if the wall of silence that surrounds the royals will ever come down and allow them to tell their own truth. Similar to all the rumors that come out about celebrities, think Britney and Justin, it makes me curious what Prince William would have to say, and what his perception of events would be in their lives.
If you like an eye-opening autobiography, then I would highly recommend this book.
