“Sorrow and Bliss” is a conversational book. The dialogue is some of the best I've ever read, blending the awkward filler words and throwaway comments with the cutting eloquence of which people who deeply care about but cannot help but hurt one another are capable. It is also beautifully, painfully introspective, and the end had me scurrying off to the bathroom for a box of Kleenex.
