Solitaire

Interesting to see proto-Nick-and-Charlie as secondary characters in Oseman's debut, written when she was 17 (!). The Tori Spring we meet here has much more depth than the few glimpses we get of her in the [b:Heartstopper: Volume One 40495957 Heartstopper Volume One (Heartstopper, #1) Alice Oseman https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1541887843l/40495957.SY75.jpg 62811229] series. But even Oseman admits, in the 2023 edition's Q&A afterword, that Solitaire is a flawed novel. I'd recommend it as a curious artifact, an early effort by an author who has taken the book and TV world by storm barely ten years after its publication.
