On first reading in 1984, I felt that I enjoyed this “tremendously”, but in retrospect I had some doubts about it, in particular because most of the characters are caricatures.It was very funny in places, and had a feeling of transience in action that I liked. However, as with the preceding novel [b:Changing Places 69933 Changing Places (The Campus Trilogy, #1) David Lodge https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1425609010l/69933.SY75.jpg 1055072], I never seem to have felt the urge to read it again—although I normally reread books that I like.
