This is a rather interesting book and one I'm having a hard time rating.

The premise of the main character being someone who has escaped from Hell is super intriguing and there are sooooo many supernatural elements, I'm sure that the next books will still continue to be interesting. Of course, this one deals with Heaven and Hell, angels and demons, so they went for the big dogs first.

Stark really is the embodiment of an anti-hero and I liked that about him. Sometimes, I did think he took it too far. Then again, his friends didn't always have his back, so I get it. His mindset is entertaining, so reading about him was pretty fun– although after a while I did get bored with how repetitive he was and his one-track mind. I really don't understand why everyone is calling him Sandman Slim, hell I don't think he even knows, he just started to go along with it because for some reason it was scaring everyone.

It did feel like he just kept getting into fights and using his guns, not so much magic which was a shame, but didn't actually do much searching to find the answers. I really dislike when answers are just given to the main character when it seems like they are supposed to be searching.
And like I said, the one track mind about killing everyone responsible, but having no plan nor a plan for after, really got dull after a bit.

I'm hoping the next book will be a bit better since most of the bad things were covered in this book, so I will try one more to see if I like it. If you like rough, gritty characters taking on real supernatural creatures and revenge in a real-world setting then you should pick this one up!
