This was an intriguing read.
I wouldn't say I was in love with this book, but like the Tamasse River - as I waded in bit by bit, it engulfed me. Leaving me in a whirlpool of conflicting emotions.
Weighing the balance of empathy and preservation, this book will help you understand both as well as the complexity of media and how easily the narrative can be changed or influenced by one simple photograph.
There is a love interest in this book, but for me personally, I didn't feel the chemistry there or that it would evolve into anything. And I don't think the story necessarily needed it. It felt like it came out of left field when two of the characters became intimate. (It was closed door with nothing explicit if any readers like to know that in advance)
Lastly, the ending left me wanting more, with a lot of details being left out in regards to the aftermath of it all. Leaving me with hanging questions that may never be answered.
So, if anyone is looking for an insightful deep read that debates compassionate empathy and passionate preservation, then this may be the book for you. It is very well written, and I am glad I picked it up.
